Gutenberg wooden block
Size: L
The Gutenberg wooden block is made from cherry wood. It is not only beautiful to behold but also practical to be used as a paperweight. It serves as a small historical remembrance of the important cultural turning point about the unpredictable changes which occurred due to the duplication of written communication because of the invention of the printing press. A hand-full of Gutenberg is preserved in the weight of this pioneering invention as a wooden block depicting the culturally significant lettering on its sides. The sides of this wooden block depict Gutenberg’s conventionalized visage as well as the pictures composed from typographical elements among them for example, direct text from Gutenberg’s Genesis in Textura type. Waldemar Erz is the designer of this beautiful tribute to Gutenberg. The artist, who lives in Nieder-Olm near Mainz, dedicated this artwork to Johannes Gutenberg on the 550 celebration of Gutenberg’s year of death. Technique: Laser-cut cherry woodMaterial: cherry wood board, approx. 0.20 in. thickMeasurements: 3.15 x 3.15 in.Weight: 322 gram

Cervantes: Don Quijote
With grandiose ingenuity, Cervantes tells of the adventures of the impoverished nobleman, who lives in a dream world of past knightly times, and his faithful armour-bearer Sancho Panza. Similar to Goethe's Faust for the Germans, Don Quixote has become a symbol of national genius for the Spanish. The narrator's sympathy for his characters and his lovingly ironic tone make Don Quixote a wonderful anti-hero of world literature. Miguel de Cervantes: Don Quijote. Hardcover in a slipcase, 3218 pages in 5 volumes, 38 x 53 mm, Miniaturbuchverlag Leipzig 2013. German edition.

Swift: Gulliver's Travels
Gulliver's Travels is the most famous work of the Irish writer, Anglican priest and politician Jonathan Swift. A naive do-gooder, the ship's doctor Gulliver goes on a journey to return home as a disillusioned misanthrope at the end of his fantastic adventures. The mere shift in scale in Lilliput, the land of the dwarves, and Brobdingnag, the land of the giants, makes all human activity ridiculous. While in Lilliput he can pull an entire war fleet across the sea with one hand and his appetite threatens to cause a famine, he has to fear for his life among the giants themselves as a toy in the hand of an infant. Jonathan Swift: Gulliver's Travels. Hardcover in a slipcase, 1516 pages in 4 volumes, 38 x 53 mm, Miniaturbuchverlag Leipzig 2015. English edition. The decoration is only for view and not part of the offered product.
