This wonderful title copper engraving adorns one of the major reference works on plants from the 17th century, created by Maria Sibylla Merian, one of the unique female illustrators in book history (1647–1717). Memo-Game with Printer's MarkEver since the invention of printing, printers and publishers have placed their personal word and image marks in their publications. Readers would typically encounter such a printer's mark, the forerunner of what would later become the publisher's logo, on the title page or the last page of the book.
