Memo-Game with Printer's Mark
Ever since the invention of printing, printers and publishers have placed their personal word and image marks in their publications. Readers would typically encounter such a printer's mark, the forerunner of what would later become the publisher's logo, on the title page or the last page of the book. The small motifs, often multi-faced in their meaning, represent the quality standards, religious beliefs, or even the capacity of those onvolved to continually adapt as they sought to maintain their positions in changing market conditions.
This memo game shows a selection from the collection of the Gutenberg Museums Mainz.
Production for the special exhibition: I print! Signet and printer's mark since the age of Gutenberg, Gutenberg Museum Mainz, 2025/2026.
