Stamm: Die Kunst des Scheiterns

Product Information "Stamm: Die Kunst des Scheiterns"

Kleiner Druck 117 of the Gutenberg Society

The Kleinen Drucke (“Small Prints”) are a publication series of the International Gutenberg Society in Mainz (e.V.), released at irregular intervals since 1926.

In this poetic essay, the renowned Swiss author Peter Stamm reflects on writing, the risk of failure — and the creative power that can emerge precisely from not succeeding. The text is based on his speech of thanks given on the occasion of receiving the City of Mainz “Stadtschreiber” Award in 2013, which the author has specially revised and updated for this edition.

As always, this Kleiner Druck has been designed with great care and attention to detail: Werner von Bergen served as the project’s editor, oversaw text selection and communication with the author, and wrote the biographical introduction. Typesetting and layout are by Frank Mittelbach, and the cover design by Dr. Julia Bangert.
The printing was carried out on an original 1954 Heidelberg cylinder press, using Fedrigoni Arena Rough/Bulk paper, and finished with high-quality thread stitching by Die Lettertypen in Berlin.
