Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914) came from an creative family. His father and grandfather were reputable landscape painters but he was to become a lawyer at his own father's desire. Fortunately he choose to become a writer and is well-known today especially for his comical poetry despite his numerous other works. His poems unfold a kind but subtle humour which is emphasised by his language. The little book in our new lyrical series worships this jongleur and magician of the German language with good reason.
