Product Information

Also in the second volume of the quotations series by Klaus Klage there are almost 500 quotes of popular personalities that all concern with laughing in the strict and in the wider sense. They all have in common that they are highly entertaining and cover a range from funny and amusing to sarcastic and mean. Klage concisely avoided the rendition of kind words which would evoke no more than an increased lack of stimulus. Also remarkable are the authors of the single quotations. The scope spreads from Picasso to Peter Ustinov, Heinz Rühmann to Keinrich Heine, Woody Allen to Winston Churchill and also Klaus Klade added numerous sentences himself.

Poetry by Joachim Ringelnatz
Joachim Ringelnatz (1883 - 1924) did not led an easy life: in school laughed at because of his silly looks he later made his way as a sailor and had more than 30 jobs. For some time even homeless his performance in the Munich pub Simplicimus was the turning point of his life. As a cabaret artist, writer and painter he found the tribute he was looking for and a little income however only until the Nazis forbade him. His work of poetry offers an unaffected everyday language „no versified journalism but something very old-fashioned: poetry." (Theodor Heuß). Joachim Ringelnatz: Gedichte.
