Biography of Franz Schubert
The Austrian composer is at the transition from the classical to the romantic period. His works belong to the central pieces of this epoch. Franz Peter Schubert is still regarded as a great master of the art song and although he died at the age of only 31, he left a diverse legacy; with over 600 works, he was one of the most prolific composers. Despite his high productivity, he only enjoyed success in small circles of experts who recognized his genuine strengths. The large public audience remained closed to him.
