Product Information

This handpress print from Edition Lebensretter is a slightly downsized reproduction of the view of Venice contained in Bernhard von Breydenbach’s report of his pilgrimage to the Holy Land from 1486. The Mainz canon was accompanied on his journey by painter and printer Erhard Reuwich who made woodcuts of his sketches for Breydenbach’s report. This view of the city of Venice is included in the book as a large-format accordion fold.

An incunabulum at the "Deutsches Buch- und Schriftmuseum" (German Museum of Books and Writing) acted as a template for the Edition Lebensretter print.
