Our pencil case features an excerpt from the Gutenberg Bible, namely the famous “In principio erat verbum...” quote (“In the beginning was the word …”) from the Gospel of John (John 1:1). The design is taken from the particularly lavishly illuminated Berlin copy of the Gutenberg Bible. Our pencil case is also available in a version adorned with splendid, colourful, 15th-century initials.

The current exhibition at the Gutenberg Museum, entitled "Herbals – from the German Ortus Sanitatis to herbal healers", has on display the first richly illustrated book on medicinal herbs issued in the German language: the famous Gart der Gesundheit (German Ortus Sanitatis) from 1485. Typing errors happen – yet with this letter of indulgence, issued at the Gutenberg Museum in the name of Johannes Gutenberg himself, you now have the chance to redeem at least this minor sin! It gives you seven years, seven months and seven days of atonement – a real bargai.
