Cornelia Schneider. On February 11 1494 the Johann Bergmann von Olpe printing workshop published Das Narrenschiff (Ship of Fools) by Sebastian Brant. This mirror on society was one of the first printed books to become a bestseller, as the many reprints and editions in a whole host of languages illustrate. In this new edition of the 1994 exhibition catalogue Cornelia Schneider explores for the first time the printing history of this fascinating book and the effect it had on all who read it. Gutenberg Museum, Mainz, 2nd edition, 2004. Serial publication, vol. 1. Hardback. 160 pages.
